Travel Information

Belgrade is the Republic of Serbia’s capital city, and it is divided into 17 municipalities, 10 of which are urban and 7 of which are suburban. Belgrade is the largest and one of the most populated cities in Serbia. The city has profound historical origins and is one of Europe’s oldest towns. Some antiques discovered in the surrounding region range from 20,000 to 50,000 years old, demonstrating the city’s long past. Belgrade was formerly home to nomadic foragers throughout the Palaeolithic and Mesolithic periods.

Nikola Tesla Airport, the city’s own airport, is located in the city. The airport lies 20 kilometres northwest of Belgrade’s city centre, and you have several alternatives for getting into the city. A shuttle service is available at the airport, just outside the Arrival terminal exit. Every 20 minutes, the minibus A1 departs towards Slavija Square. New Belgrade and the bus terminal are both served by shuttles. It takes roughly 35 minutes to get there. Tickets cost roughly 250 RSD and may be purchased from the bus driver.

A bus route to the city is also available. The Bus Station at the Zelani Venac in the city centre is served by bus number 72. At the Departures level, this bus runs every 35 minutes. It takes roughly 45 minutes to get there. Ticket prices are at 145 RSD. A cab service is also available outside the airport. To acquire a car, go to the baggage claim hall’s information counter. Every zone in the city has a set price.

The monetary unit is Serbian dinar.

  • bills: 10, 20, 50, 100, 200, 1000, 5000 dinars
  • coins: 1 dinar, 2 dinars, 5 dinars
  • exchange rate: 1 EUR approx. 120 dinars (changes daily)
